Frequently Asked Questions

What counseling services do you offer?

a stil life sitting in the window of victoria's former consultation room--evoking a warm safe environment for somatic work

I offer online individual and couples therapy for adults working through anxiety, burnout, relationship struggles, life transitions, trauma healing, creative blocks, and stress-related challenges.

I’m a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. My work is depth and insight-oriented, somatically informed, and offers a holistic approach to helping clients reconnect with themselves and move toward greater ease, resilience, and self-awareness.

Is online therapy effective?

Great question. I’ve been in private practice in Orange County since 2006 and have worked exclusively online since 2020. I’ve found virtual therapy to be just as effective and relationally connected as in-person work—especially when supported by somatic relational approaches.

Evidence-based research confirms online therapy is effective for many issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns. For many clients, meeting from home adds an extra layer of ease and accessibility. Frankly, I believe the most accessible therapy is the best therapy

What’s Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. By mindfully tracking subtle body sensations, we help gently release survival energy stuck in the nervous system so you can feel more grounded, connected, and whole.

Sometimes, it's not about reliving the story of what happened. It’s about restoring your body’s natural capacity to self-regulate and feel more calm—even safe.

While originally developed for trauma work, SE has become a fully integrated tool in my practice. It supports clients in:

  • Regulating highly anxious states

  • Reducing the impact of burnout and overwhelm

  • Healing relational and attachment wounds

  • Becoming more self-aware and resilient

What is Depth Psychology?

Depth Psychology explore the unconscious roots of thoughts, emotions, and behavior. It draws from Jungian, psychoanalytic, and humanistic traditions, emphasizing meaning, insight, and inner transformation. My work integrates this deeper lens with a present-moment, client-centered approach grounded in somatic awaren

How long will therapy take?

Naturally, this is one of the most common questions new clients ask. The short answer: it depends on your goals and what you’re working through.

Some clients find meaningful relief within a few months. Others prefer longer-term work to explore deeper patterns. The process is collaborative—and you’re always in charge of when you're ready to finish.

How often will we meet online?

I typically meet with clients weekly, as research supports this as the most effective rhythm for meaningful change and client satisfaction. The frequency of sessions can shift over time depending on your needs, preferences, schedule, progress, and financial circumstances.

Do you give homework?

Occasionally, but not routinely. I may suggest:

  • Somatic practices

  • Reflection prompts

  • Nervous system support tools.

  • Noticing thoughts and connections that come up

There’s no pressure or expectation. If you’re paying attention to how you feel—emotionally and physically—between sessions, and noticing what’s changing, you’re doing the work.

What will the first session be like?

We'll begin with a standard 50-minute session, which will likely go quickly. There are a few intake and practice-related items to cover, but we’ll also begin exploring what brought you here, what you’d like to shift, and start building a sense of safety and connection.

Over time, sessions become a place to slow down, get in touch, and move below the surface. We may talk, track body sensations, or explore beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you. Expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where your experience is truly honored

What kind of results can I expect from counseling?

Clients often share they feel more centered, less reactive, and more connected to themselves and others. Therapy doesn't eliminate all of life's challenges—but it helps you meet them with greater capacity. Both insight-oriented talk therapy and somatic work are cumulative—the benefits build over time.

Do you take insurance?

I’m an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly and I’m not listed on insurance panels. However, I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement.

Please check with your plan to understand your out-of-network mental health benefits, as each policy varies in terms of deductibles and reimbursement rates.

I am not a Medicare provider.

As of January 1, 2024, LMFTs became eligible to enroll as Medicare providers—welcome news for our field. That said, I have opted out of the Medicare system as an out-of-network, fee-for-service therapist.

If you are a Medicare beneficiary (including Medigap or Medicare Advantage), you will not be able to use those benefits to offset the cost of therapy with me.

What is your fee?

  1. Longer sessions: Available and prorated based on this fee

  2. Reduced-fee slots: A limited number are available
