Education
Receiving my MA from Pacifica Graduate Institute, I trained in a compassionate client-centered approach to therapy, promoting wholeness and self-acceptance. Facilitating personal growth, authenticity, and autonomy through a mindfulness paradigm, I am focused on the development of happier relationships overall. Additionally, I am trained as a Somatic Therapist utilizing Somatic Experiencing to resolve a broad range of physical and emotional traumas. Respecting the body, mind, spirit connection, I utilize a holistic approach to healing and personal growth. The primary goal of the therapy I offer is to reduce suffering and allow room for the emergence of  your innate contentment and joy. Good therapy reawakens you and your sense of optimism.

Experience
I have been working with clients in Orange County since 2001.  I have sat with individuals, couples, groups, elementary, middle school, and high school students and their families. I also enjoyed the unique opportunity of serving the special needs of the geriatric community in Orange County. For over five years I provided therapy through a well-known Orange County non-profit agency. There, through the County of Orange Child Abuse contract, I served our most profoundly stressed families around the issues of family reunification, recovery, parenting, decision-making, trauma, and life skills.

Continuing Self-Development
Increasingly, I have found my clients are working with issues of trauma, anxiety, and limitation.  As a result of working with the emerging needs of clients and  seeking additional training to meet those needs, a specialty has evolved in my practice in the treatment of anxiety and panic attack.

I am have completed my third year of a three-year intensive training in the elegant and deceptively simple approach of Somatic Experiencing (SE). This invaluable tool allows us to work directly with the body to release trauma, anxiety, and stored stressors from the past. An important approach when used to address major trauma,  Somatic Experiencing is just as valuable when teasing out the unprocessed fear and anxiety from childhood traumas, developmental traumas, attachment issues, divorce and loss of family structure, car accidents, medical and dental procedures, violent trauma, and abuse. Very often we are storing some unrecognized trauma in our bodies that is now feeding our feelings of dis-ease and anxiety. Somatic Experiencing is an approach which allows a gentle, safe release of these neurological imprints from the body.

I have been trained in the implementation of the  CHAANGE Program, one of the time-tested  therapeutic approaches to the treatment of anxiety and panic attack.  This program incorporates the effective  approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a step-by-step program to treat anxiety and panic without medications, in addition to medications, and when medications and other approaches have failed.  The CHAANGE Program is designed for adolescents and adults. This program is a powerful tool for learning the skills necessary to master debilitating feelings  of anxiety and panic.
